Introduction to WAGP07 and the College

The 2007 Workshop on Algebraic Geometry and Physics (WAGP07) will take place at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study in Seoul on June 25 to 29, 2007. Its topic will be " Recent Trends in Mirror Symmetry .'' It will be preceded by an introductory College on Mirror Symmetry at the Chern Institute of Mathmatics, Nankai University in Tianjin, China (June 16 to 22, 2007).

This Workshop and College are part of a series of workshops and schools which was incepted in 1996 and aims at fostering the interaction between mathematicians working in pure algebraic geometry and researchers who are interested in applications of algebraic geometry to physics. The scientific programme of the Workshop will consist of about 20 invited lectures together with a number of contributed presentations. At the moment prospective speakers include C.-H. Cho, D.E. Diaconescu, C. Doran, B. Dubrovin, D. Hernandez Ruiperez, C. Hertling, S. Hosono, S. Katz, L. Katzarkov, A. Kuznetsov, G. Marelli, Y.-G. Oh, J.-S. Park, W.-D. Ruan, K. Saito, B. Siebert, K. Ueda. More speakers are to be invited. The College will consist in four lecture courses delivered by leading experts in mirror symmetry and related areas.

Accommodation: participants will be lodged in motel accommodations. Information in this connection will be provided to the pre-registered participants.

The attendance at the College is fixed at 40. Pre-registered participants will be contacted to finalize their registration.

Financial support: it will be possible to cover the local expenses (accommodation and meals) of a small number of young researchers. Please specify this in your pre-registration form.
